Ok, Corryn went down for a nap now, and the older 2 Little Ladies are restin gon the couch. That means I can go on for a minute about a HUGE blessing my family received this week.
Monday, out of nowhere, Katelyn Joy spiked a 102 fever and began wheezing. We put her to bed as normal, and at around 11:00 she was whining and wheezing really bad. Scott and I rushed upstairs and she could inhale but was having EXTREME diffulty exhaling. She looked so scared, which is what scared me the most. Scott also became panicked and told me to get her to the hospital. Scott was so smart to bring her out to the car right away as I dressed, the cold air helped her to breathe a bit easier.
When we got to the ER the woman who checked us in called for a nurse right away, Katelytn still sounded horrible. We were able to get into a room right away and they began giving her breathing tratments. After receiving 3 breathing treatments, and an oral steroid, having x-rays done and blood drawn, we were sent home at around 6:30 a.m.. They said he oxygen levels had come up and we were sent on our way.
When we got home she was still wheezing, but not struggling to breathe. I tucked her into bed right next to me, and we took a nap. I am so thankful Scott was able to stay home and care fo the older 2. When we woke up I called and made an appointment with our pediatrician. He got us in right away. When we got there, he was surprised she still soudned so bad considering all of the treatments that had been performed that night. He gave her a dose of an oral steroid right then and there, and wrote he wrote us a prescription for one to give her at home. I told him the ER doctor gave us a prescription for a strong antibiotic, but I wasn;t sure why. I explained that Ididn;t fill it because I wasn;t given a reason why whe needed it. He said that was a wise thing, because she didn't need it. I am so thankful for that wisdom.
Katelyn is still recovering. Please keep her in your prayers, Corryn has had a pretty nasty cold and has decided to share it with her sisters. I am afraid this is going to trigger her breathing issues again. We were told if she has an episode again to get her right to the hospital or call 911. Without having a job or medical benefits at this time, we will do whatever we have to ensure our daughters are healthy and cared for, but it would be an expense that we can't afford right now.
I am so thankful for our family. I am so thankful that God allows me to continue to see the blessing in the storm. God is good!!!
